Achieving Aims & Objectives
- Fostering collaboration with nursing groups and health institutions
The ANMHP works closely with nursing professional bodies, alumni and health organisations to preserve nursing materials, collate information on nursing materials and identify historically important figures in nursing and midwifery.
Such sites will include nursing professional associations, hospitals, and the Australian War Memorial Museum in Canberra, the National Library of Australia, the National Archives of Australia, the University of Melbourne Archives,
the State Library of Victoria and other similar collections.
In the past, nursing alumni of the major training hospitals have been protective of their heritage and resources. Today, hospital alumni and veterans' associations are gravely concerned about the preservation of their heritage in the future. The ANMHP supports the work of existing nursing associations, but importantly, it does not acquire resource material.
