The ANMHP maintains an internet register of historically significant Australian nursing and midwifery professional organisations, individual nurses and midwives.
Nursing and midwifery historical material exists within archives of hospitals, government, professional associations, veterans' organisations, in local and state museums and in personal collections, but there has been no co-ordination of information to expose these nursing and midwifery historical resources nationally.
The ANMHP collates and indexes information about where material is kept, and offers ideas and mechanisms for preservation of materials.
The ANMHP works closely with the ASAP, utilising its 'onQ-Archival Documentation-management System' to provide the conceptual and strategic framework for the documentation of resources.
The ANMHP Register of Resources has links with ASAP, the Virtual Library for the History of Science, Technology and Medicine, and to the Directory of Archives Australia which provides access information on over 400 archival repositories across Australia.
